The band also has a strong showing in the corporate and private event sector, having long standing relationships with many different companies.  Clients like the LAPD, LAFD, LA County Sheriffs, LA Galaxy Soccer Club, LA Dodgers, Playboy, & Rockstar Videogames have continued to solidify STEEL ROD’s place at the top of Cover bands in the country.

The band is comprised of three talented musicians: Rod Pantoja on Guitar, Whit Petrell on Bass, Johnny Reyes on Drums and all of them are Lead singers of a combined 500+ songs!  The extensive song list spans all genres from RnB, Pop, Classic Rock, Top 40, Alternative, Metal & Country.

When they want to broaden their already outstanding show, Steel Rod will bring in additional talent.  Most notably, Keyboard player/Lead singer extraordinaire, Eric Mondragon.  And for those events needing an Emcee, they look no further than, TV Host and speaker, Greg Chard.

Rod Pantoja

Rod Pantoja is a self-taught guitar player who started playing at age 12.  He would practice for countless hours & discovered his true love for music by age 15.  He listened  & learned all different styles of music, from heavy metal to funk & R&B.  While playing in several original bands, he was also building his repertoire of cover songs.

By the age of 20 his knowledge of songs was in the hundreds, and he was in high demand throughout the Top 40 cover band circuit.  Over 15 years later, Rod is recognized as one of the most gifted & versatile guitar players anywhere.  His credibility throughout the music industry has opened many doors for him, including playing alongside Alice Cooper.

Johnny Reyes

Johnny Reyes has been playing drums since age 11.  Born of Mexican descent, he was influenced by his parents' love of music ranging from Salsa to Motown.

As a young teenager, Reyes performed in various original acts with much older musicians that led to performances at venues like The Troubadour, Roxy & Whiskey, among countless others surrounding Hollywood's Sunset Strip.

In 1992, Reyes began performing professionally fronting & playing percussion for a Top 40/R&B/Latin cover band called KAOS. Gaining extensive performance experience, he was also brought on to play alongside artists such as Rose Royce, Tierra, & Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam.   Since then, has gained even more experience both as a drummer and a businessman.

Whit Petrell

Whit Petrell is a second-generation musician who has been playing since he was a child. Playing the upright bass in the school orchestra & singing in 2 of the choirs, his love for music grew as well as his talent & skill.  However, he openly admits that he didn't take music too seriously till he was 17 when he picked up the bass.  Since then, he has amassed quite a resume.

He has worked with numerous LA based bands, becoming well versed in different styles of music, from funk to heavy metal. His ability to keep a tight groove with the drummer is rare, but Whit is a natural & loves the comfort of "playing in the pocket."   And his ability to sing a full range of genres always keeps the crowd entertained.  He is the consummate professional.
